Longevity Fantasy Football, not March Madness
I had fun thinking about, and playing with, the 2026 Longevity Bracket (https://lnkd.in/gez6EPFr) organized by Optispan's Matt Kaeberlein with a committee composed of Kayla Barnes-Lentz, Nicole Byrne, MD, Brian Kennedy, Siim Land, and Kevin White, M.D.. I even put together a dashboard to compare 86 possible interventions (some better defined than others, and a number of them overlapping). You can find it here: https://lnkd.in/g7wyRqr4 But then it struck me: we need to think in terms of portfolios of interventions, as it doesn't make sense (to me) to have to choose, for example, between blood pressure and cholesterol. With that in mind, I treated the virtual contest as more of a Fantasy Football competition and tried to come up with a few teams that cover different areas. Each team is designed to try and optimize coverage, limit overlap and maximize evidence. My teams are not perfect, but the idea here is to start a conversation.
