IL-11 and aging
Down regulating the inflammatory cytokine IL-11 with an antibody increases healthspan in older mice, significantly. Well-done study that suggests the same approach could work in other mammals -pets and humans. It is important to note that we don't want to down regulate IL-11 or other cytokines too early as they play important roles in immunity. But their upregulation as we age is one of the mains cause of inflammaging -systemic low-grade inflammation with lots of downstream effects, perhaps even neuro-degenerative conditions.
