Not a U-Shape

Biology

Oh no...

"...the widely reported U-shape is largely an artifact of methodological biases, instead of a robust empirical pattern. A study recently published in European Sociological Review, describes a different pattern, in which happiness declines slowly through adulthood, slightly increases in the early 60s (or the "golden ages"), then declines steeply in old age." On the other hand, I am happy to be approaching the golden years.

As a follow-up to my previous post about happiness (link)... I stumbled upon an article that contained this graph based on the EHRs of 3 million individuals in the UK ("Data‐driven identification of ageing‐related diseases from electronic health records"link). It is almost the mirror image of the happiness metric.
