Fine, I never was, but I found this intro from James Fallows in March 2011 that comes as close as it gets to the proof of the possibility that I could have been in another life. Jim had introduced me to the late Michael Crichton, which led to a productive interaction interrupted too early by cancer. I was also going to be the science advisor on the Prey movie, but the screenplay was ready in early 2003 at the beginning of the Iraq war and the movie was shelved -too dark and somewhat skeptical of military R&D that would lead to autonomous, "intelligent", killing entities. I didn't agree with Michael on a number of topics, but I enjoyed his brain.
