Use Cases

Artificial Intelligence

An interesting strategy+business article (link) has an intriguing set of estimates of hashtag#genAI impact on operating profit margins in a variety of industries.

There is so much to criticize. For example, this is really about (short term) productivity gains assuming no downward pricing pressure. The subjective numbers here could be considered urgency to adapt scores to avoid being competed out of the market.

Taking this as it is -short-term estimates, "Software" is at the top, no big surprise (Raphaelle d'Ornano). "Telecommunications" makes sense too (Vivek Badrinath). But "Luxury Goods"?

It is surprising to find "Luxury Goods" at the top (Milton Pedraza). While most of the other industries may benefit from efficiencies, the Luxury Goods (and experiences) industry may benefit from better personalization, better engagement with customers, simply better experience. I would put it in a different category with outstanding topline impact, not "just" bottomline improvement.

Lastly, because it (in my view) a short-term perspective, it probably underestimates the 5yr-10yr disruption wave to come from unforeseen applications and deployments of hashtag#AI and derivative products, services, experiences.
