Thinking Machines... Lab
This is a very interesting development coming out of Thinking Machines Lab, Mira Murati's company. But what caught my attention when following the link is that Danny Hillis is cited right at the top of the page with a picture of his and Brian Silverman's Tinker Toy computer, made in 1978 I think. Danny had lots of hair then.
So I guess maybe the name Thinking Machines Lab is a homage to Danny Hillis' original Thinking Machines, maker of the famed Connection Machine (the first massively parallel computer I ever wrote an algorithm for). As happened a few months ago, I'm sure he'll get a lot of congratulatory messages 🤓!
Thanks Devendra Chaplot!
