Reverse Centaurs, Part II

Human + Machine

Yesterday, I wrote about reverse centaurs, a Cory Doctorow-meets-Vonnegut Player Piano concept (link). Today, there is a site for it.

At least the "meatspace layer for ai" is not concealing its devious business model. If you want to pioneer the next iteration of task rabbits, this is for you.

Most humans I see listed, assuming they are real, charge $50/hr. Someone will have to pay the bill, at some point. A lot of the tasks, though, seem to be looking for (fake) human influencers, "Follow XYZ on Instagram" or:

"""

Do this (photo + video):

  • Go to a busy public location (legal + safe)
  • Make a poster/sign that includes EXACTLY:
  • “Stop Hiring Humans.”
  • (below it) the QR code OR tidalwebs.com (mandatory)
  • Take 1 photo + 10–20s video with the sign in the location

Optional (but helps you win):

  • Post your photo/video publicly on LinkedIn, Instagram, and/or X (Twitter)
  • The more views/likes, the more likely you are to win (virality matters)

Which seems very human-mediated. Meatspace indeed.
