MCP Night

Artificial Intelligence

🔥 🔥 🔥 Right off the heels of Anthropic’s announcement that it is “donating the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a directed fund under the Linux Foundation, co-founded by Anthropic, Block and OpenAI, with support from Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cloudflare, and Bloomberg”, WorkOS’ Michael Grinich organized a fantastic MCP Night 🥳 !

After a whirlwind 🌪️ walk through the history, impact and recent developments of MCP (and really, amazingly, minimal WorkOS advertisement), demos by Reilly Wood (Olivier Pomel's Datadog), Craig Cannon (Supabase), Rita Kozlov (Cloudflare), Den Delimarsky (Microsoft), Paul Irish (Google) were illuminating in teasing out the many directions the technology is enabling (including URL elicitation, probably the most consequential capability that just emerged).

Followed by an all-star MCP panel: David Soria Parra (Anthropic, MCP co-creator), Nick Cooper (OpenAI), 🇦🇺 Manik Surtani (Block), Jim Zemlin (CEO, The Linux Foundation), moderated by Michael Grinich.

Takeaways:

1️⃣ A naysayer today may become an enthusiast tomorrow as MCP is growing (and maturing) at triple dog year speed, fasten your seat belt.

2️⃣ I want to hire Michael Grinich as emcee for my events!
