Lots of yummy quotables at Human[X] this week, Part III

Artificial Intelligence

Perhaps my biggest source of quotables came (unexpectedly?) from You.com's brilliant founder and CEO Richard Socher during his hashtag#humanx Q&A session. In order of appearance during the session:

1️⃣ He said something similar to Benjamine Liu, and because it is at the heart of what I have been working on for years, here it is:n "The ability to discern, evaluate, edit, is what matters". That's the equivalent of "knowing what great (and not so great) looks like" and guiding the process (editing). Yay!

2️⃣ Large search engines lose money in, say, Indonesia or Pakistan because they are basically ad companies and the ad spend in these countries makes it hard to break even.

3️⃣ Claude Computer Use sends away screenshots of your laptop every 2 minutes. Richard has not felt comfortable setting it up on his laptop.

4️⃣ Chat ads are 20x to 100x less valuable than search ads.

5️⃣ You.com has accurate, real citations. Many (all?) others serve fake references.
